Our AI Policy

How we use AI. We are the humans behind the AI.

Webconsuls uses AI throughout our agency because it allows our team to research faster, analyze larger amounts of information, monitor systems more consistently and reduce repetitive work. Used well, AI gives experienced marketers more capacity and a broader field of view.

What AI does not get is the final say.

We do not allow an AI system to independently decide what should be published on a client’s website, how a brand should speak, whether a major campaign should launch or how significant advertising dollars should be allocated. We do not treat AI-generated work as finished simply because another AI process reviewed it and declared it acceptable.

Our policy is straightforward: AI does the prep work. A Webconsuls Partner makes the final call.

AI is powerful. It is not a Roomba for your marketing department.

The temptation with AI is to assume that enough automation eventually removes the need for supervision. In practice, that is rarely how businesses work.

You can leave a Roomba alone in a room because the consequence of a bad decision is usually a bruised baseboard. Your marketing touches your reputation, your customers, your leads, your search visibility and your money. The standard has to be higher.

AI can process an extraordinary amount of information without getting tired or distracted, but it does not inherently know when a recommendation conflicts with your business strategy, when a promising metric is masking a problem or when technically correct language is wrong for your brand. It does not know that a treatment center has changed its admissions criteria unless someone gives it that information. It does not know that a law firm’s highest-volume search term produces terrible cases. It does not know that doing nothing may be smarter than making another campaign change.

Those are judgment calls. We do not outsource them.

Where AI creates real leverage

We use AI most heavily where the work involves volume, repetition, monitoring or pattern recognition — areas where the technology can substantially increase the amount of information our team can process without lowering the standard of review.

  • Research and analysis

AI helps us move through search data, competitive information, campaign performance, lead information, CRM data and website analytics more efficiently. A marketer still determines which information is credible, which patterns matter and whether the findings have any meaningful implication for the client’s business.

  • Monitoring and issue detection

Machines do not need to remember to check something. AI helps watch websites, forms, tracking, campaigns, rankings, competitors and lead patterns. AI identifies what happened. Our team determines what it means.

  • SEO and technical analysis

AI lets our strategists examine far more of the rankings, search behavior, technical and content landscape without turning SEO into an automated decision engine. AI expands the field of view. It does not become the SEO strategist.

  • Content research and preparation

AI can help research a subject, organize sources, identify gaps and build outlines. What we do not do is give an AI system a topic, let it independently write the complete page, review its own work and send that page live. A person owns the copy.

Note
You do not want your website content written, checked and approved by the same system.

Where human review is non-negotiable

The amount of oversight a task needs should reflect the consequence of getting it wrong.

  • Advertising budgets and campaign strategy

AI can flag patterns, unusual activity and recommend bid or budget changes. It does not get authority over a client’s money. Consequential budget, bid, launch, pause, targeting and strategic decisions remain under human oversight.

  • Public-facing content

Anything that represents an organization publicly deserves an accountable human owner — website copy, advertising, creative, service and program information, and sensitive clinical, legal or professional claims.

  • Strategy

AI can model scenarios, identify options and surface patterns. Strategy requires deciding what matters within the context of the business — economics, capacity, competition, margins, reputation and risk. AI can inform strategy. People set it.

AI does not get to check its own homework

One of the easiest mistakes companies can make with AI is confusing automated review with independent review.

If an AI system creates important work and another automated step says the work looks good, that may be useful as one layer of quality control. It is not the same as having someone responsible for the outcome evaluate whether the work is correct, appropriate and aligned with the business.

You do not want AI making a recommendation and then deciding its own recommendation is correct. For consequential marketing work, there needs to be another set of eyes. At Webconsuls, those eyes belong to someone who can be held responsible for the decision.

The more work AI takes on, the more important the human layer becomes

AI may eventually handle a large percentage of work that once required several people. That is not a reason to remove human responsibility. It changes where human responsibility sits.

Someone still has to define the objective, determine what AI is allowed to do, evaluate exceptions, notice when the data is misleading, approve consequential actions and take responsibility for the outcome.

If AI replaces much of the work once performed by a department, the company still needs someone capable of supervising what replaced that department. That person may oversee far more output than before, which makes experience and judgment more valuable, not less.

This is the human layer behind AI, and it is the part we believe companies should be very careful about removing.

Our AI operating principles

  • AI can research.A person determines what is credible and relevant.
  • AI can analyze.A person determines what the analysis means.
  • AI can recommend.A person decides whether to act.
  • AI can assist with content.A person owns the final copy.
  • AI can monitor advertising.A person controls consequential budget and bid decisions.
  • AI can identify a problem.A person determines the appropriate response.
  • AI can automate work.A person determines where automation begins, where it stops and when an exception requires intervention.
  • AI can move incredibly fast.A person remains responsible for the result.

AI is fast. Humans are accountable.

Our clients trust us with assets that have direct business consequences: their brands, websites, marketing budgets, leads, search visibility, reputation and growth.

We use AI because it can make our people more capable — removing repetitive work, accelerating research, improving monitoring and letting experienced marketers spend more of their time making decisions rather than gathering information.

What we will not do is confuse efficiency with autonomy. The objective is not to remove people from every workflow. It is to remove unnecessary manual work while keeping qualified people where judgment, context and accountability matter.

That is how we use AI at Webconsuls.

Questions
Does Webconsuls use AI?+

Yes — across research, analysis, monitoring, technical work, operational efficiency and other areas where it lets our team process more information or complete repetitive work more efficiently. We view AI as part of the agency’s operating infrastructure, not as a replacement for the strategists, writers, media professionals and partners responsible for client outcomes.

Does AI write Webconsuls client content?+

AI may support research, source organization, analysis, outlines and portions of the content-development process. We do not hand an AI system a topic, allow it to independently produce the finished page and publish that work without meaningful human review. A Webconsuls writer or strategist remains responsible for the finished content.

Does AI manage client advertising budgets?+

AI and advertising platforms can provide automated optimization, analysis and recommendations, and we use those capabilities where they improve visibility into campaign performance. Consequential decisions involving budgets, bids, campaign structure, targeting and strategy remain under the oversight of the Webconsuls team responsible for the account.

Do you allow AI to publish work automatically?+

Not where the work has meaningful implications for a client’s brand, reputation, budget, search presence or public information. The greater the consequence of being wrong, the stronger the requirement for human review.

Why not use fully autonomous AI?+

Because most operating businesses contain incomplete information, exceptions, conflicting priorities and decisions that require context. Autonomy may be appropriate for defined, low-risk tasks. It is very different from giving a system open-ended authority over a brand, budget or business decision. There is no Roomba for running a company.

Will AI eventually replace entire marketing departments?+

It may replace significant amounts of work departments currently perform. That does not eliminate the need for experienced people to define objectives, evaluate output, manage exceptions, make consequential decisions and remain accountable for results. The structure of the team may change substantially. The need for judgment does not.

Need your own AI strategy and governance policy?

The same questions we answer inside our agency are becoming important inside every company adopting AI. Which tools should be approved? What information should AI be allowed to access? Which tasks can run autonomously? What requires human approval? Who owns the systems? Who reviews the output? What happens when AI is wrong?

Webconsuls helps companies develop practical AI strategies, governance policies and human oversight frameworks built around the way their people, systems and workflows operate.
